Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

Another day with a frigid start to the day and cold daytime highs. We saw some areas of patchy freezing fog develop, but mainly in low-lying elevations.

Tonight we’ll see mostly clear skies apart from the freezing fog developing for low-lying elevations. Overnight lows will be in the teens for many with some in single digits. Jefferson County will likely see more freezing fog than anyone else, and will have warmer overnight lows as a result. Winds tonight will be out of the east generally about 15 miles per hour.

Wednesday will be off to another cold, frosty start. Get up early and get your car warmed up to get you out the door on time. You’ll likely need to do some scraping, too. We’ll see sunshine apart from the patchy freezing fog. Winds will gust out of the north around 10 miles per hour tomorrow.

Through the end of the week we’ll be looking at the same weather pattern with the fog developing overnight, cold and frosty starts, mostly sunny skies, and chilly daytime highs. Expect temperatures in the teens for overnight lows and 30s for daytime highs.

As we head into the weekend our weather pattern will change and our ridge of high pressure will weaken. We could see some snow showers for the Cascades as soon as Saturday night. Overall, Central Oregon will see some clouds drift in with a slight warm up into the 40s.

The best chance for mixed showers for the High Desert will be Monday and Tuesday.
