Local Alert Weather – Wed. PM

Happy Wednesday evening, everyone!

Freezing fog will stick around throughout much of Central Oregon for the overnight. Underneath the fog know there will be some slick conditions and spots of black ice, so take care while driving!

Winds will generally be light out of the northwest tonight. Our overnight lows will be back in the teens as the fog lingers. Frosty conditions are expected tomorrow morning. Make sure you allow yourself extra time to warm up the car and scrape the windshield.

Temperatures start in the teens for many of us tomorrow. At this point I think the fog will stick around throughout most of the day as high pressure sits overhead. With our inversion with the warmer air higher up and cooler air in lower elevations we’ll see mostly sunny skies to start the day in the mountains. If you want to escape the fog get up to the Cascades! Daytime highs for Thursday will peak in the 20s and lower 30s.

Friday will be similar to Thursday, but fog should break up by midday. If not Friday, then Saturday will see the clearing as the ridge of high pressure weakens. Temperatures will be back to average this weekend getting back into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Sunday brings our best chance for showers, but this could get messy. We could see some freezing rain with these showers for north Central Oregon as cold air is trapped in lower elevations. The rest of the High Desert would likely see mixed showers. We’re keeping a close eye on this for you as we get closer to the weekend.
