Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

KTVZ

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

We’re just ahead of a cold front passing through Oregon. Snow levels will fall to 3,400′ tonight then to 2,700′ tomorrow morning. Winds will continue to be gusty tonight topping 40 miles per hour. Temperatures will fall behind the cold front, but will stay in the 30s and 40s through midnight.

Heavy precipitation is on the way to the Cascades and Central Oregon tonight between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The wind-driven rain will create low visibility at times, so take care on the roads tonight. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in place for the west slopes of the Cascades through tomorrow morning for snow accumulating on the roads and down to pass level. Mt. Bachelor will see its first powder day of the year with about a foot expected.

For the High Desert we’ll see rain turning over to a rain/snow mix around midnight, then to snow overnight with scattered showers. Winds will be gusty around 40 miles per hour overnight, so secure any outdoor decorations or loose objects. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s by tomorrow morning, so we’ll see slick roads.

Wednesday will see some sunshine to begin the day with glazed surfaces. Increasing clouds will arrive by lunchtime. Highs will top out in the upper 30s and lower 40s behind the passing cold front, which is around average.

Temperatures remain above average (40 degrees at the airport in Redmond) for the 7-day forecast. Overnight lows will also remain in the mid to upper 20s and above average (21 degrees).

Our next best chance for showers looks to be Friday. Chances pick up again by Sunday and into next week.

Drive safely!
