Redmond’s South Canal Project takes cold-weather pause

KTVZ

Major work activities on the north section of Redmond’s South Canal Project (SW Canal Blvd to SW Salmon Ave – SW Obsidian Ave and 11th Street) will be temporarily suspended for the foreseeable future due to below-freezing temperatures, a project official said Friday.

Robert Gibbons of Knife River said pouring of concrete curb and sidewalks, and asphalt paving cannot be performed without compromising the integrity and lifespan of the material. Construction activities will resume once warmer temperatures allow.

The current closures will remain in place during this shutdown. Construction crews will maintain the project corridor to allow local residents continued access to their property. If snow accumulates, expect to see Knife River crews removing snow within the construction zone.
