Bend detectives investigating man’s downtown death

KTVZ

Bend police have released the first, limited details of a death investigation after a man’s body was found in a downtown parking lot early Sunday morning but say the public is not in any danger.

Around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, an officer responded to a parking lot on the southeast corner of Northwest Newport Avenue and Wall Street for a person found on the ground, Lt. Clint Burleigh said.

A community member found the 34-year-old Deschutes County resident on the ground in the parking lot and he later was determined to be deceased, Burleigh said in a brief news release.

Bend police detectives responded and have been investigating the incident since then.

“It was determined very early in the investigation that there was no threat to the community,” Burleigh added.

Further information was not released.
