Credit union offers help to furloughed federal workers

KTVZ

Mid Oregon Credit Union said Thursday is offering assistance to federal employees impacted by the budget funding debate and partial government shutdown.

Several offices in Central Oregon are out on furlough: Deschutes, Ochoco, and Fremont-Winema National Forest staff, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and US Fish and Wildlife (Department of the Interior).

While they are waiting for funding to be finalized, the offices are closed and staff may not be paid on the upcoming Dec. 31 payday, the credit union said.

“This situation can cause financial stress for the affected federal employees and there is no clear time when it will be resolved,” the announcement said.

Mid Oregon said it can help bridge the gap with short-term loans and other financial options until the funding is restored.

If you are impacted, contact Mid Oregon at its offices in Bend, Redmond, Madras, Prineville, La Pine or Sisters or call their local call center at 541 382-1795.
