LA-based entrepreneur and creative innovator Viputheshwar Sitaraman understands and will speak to the power of AI and how it can be used to augment the creative process while also addressing it’s limitations.

Boston-based pioneering activist, speaker and writer Jean Kilbourne, who produced the world changing film Killing Us Softly , will offer a powerful, amusing, and disturbing visual journey through advertising and how it corrupts and exploits our need for connection in her talk, Jesus is a Brand of Jeans.

Miriah O’Dair, a Bend designer, will speak about her innovative concept (Address 180) for transitional housing in Central Oregon to support families between addresses who are experiencing a housing crisis without the traditional implications of negative labels and social exile.

About TEDxBend

Sparked by the celebrated TED conferences worldwide, TEDxBend is our very own locally organized event featuring talks, demonstrations and performances under 18 minutes each. Each spring, local, national and international speakers and performers, inspire and engage from the stage at Bend High School (and are watchable around the world via live stream.) Now embarking on its 7th year, TEDxBend also hosts a monthly Salon series in between our bigger events to build community, which is both the engine and cornerstone of TEDx. TED and TEDxBend are 501(c)(3) nonprofits devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. We also offer TEDxBendWomen, TEDxBendYouth, and TED Salons.

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks(18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

TED’s open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a “wish,” or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
