Fugitive flees Bend police after domestic dispute

KTVZ

A Bend man wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court Monday was involved in a domestic dispute Tuesday but sped away when police arrived. hitting a power box and landscaping, officers said.

Police later searched the Juniper Ridge area, where he’s believed to be camping, but he could not be found by officers or a drone deployed in the area.

An officer responded shortly before 10:30 a.m. to an address on Northeast Viking Court for a reported domestic dispute, Lt. Jason Maniscalco said.

The victim told officers her estranged husband, Isaiah Marcy, 31, had been at the home — a violation of his probation — and tried to take her phone while she called 911.

Marcy left the home before police arrived. Maniscalco said an officer spotted his SUV in the area of Boyd Acres Road and tried to pull him over, but Marcy sped away.

Officers did not pursue him because he was driving dangerously, the lieutenant said. As he fled, he drove onto the sidewalk and struck an electrical utility box at the intersection of Empire Boulevard and Black Powder Lane. It did not cause any reported outage, but Pacific Power crews were dispatched to make repairs.

Marcy also caused damage by driving within the landscaping in front of the Escena Apartments on Empire Boulevard, Maniscalco added. The SUV, a gray 2001 GMC Yukon, was last seen by officers in the area of East View Lane.

Maniscalco said officers learned Marcy had been living at a camp in the Juniper Ridge area, so officers checked the area on foot and with the use of a drone, but could not find him or the SUV.

Marcy faces new charges of criminal mischief, reckless driving, hit-and-run and interfering with a 911 call, as well as a probation violation, Maniscalco said.

Court records show Marcy was arrested last October on charges of first-degree child neglect, recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of a minor and unlawful processing of cannabinoid extract into a product.

A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear for a plea hearing on Monday. Jail officers said he’d been released from jail on Jan. 29 after $4,000 of his $40,000 bail was posted.

In early 2018, he pleaded guilty to a charge of oxycodone possession and another charge of heroin possession was dismissed. He was sentenced to 18 months probation and 10 days in jail.

In September 2016, after police surrounded a downtown Bend office building, Marcy was arrested on charges he threw rocks through the windows and glass door of three businesses and trespassed on five properties.
