Hwy. 26 closures to prep Warm Springs paving work

KTVZ

Motorists are advised that crews from Laduke Construction under contract to the Oregon Department of Transportation will be creating intermittent closures on Thursday, not expected to exceed 20 minutes, for a highway safety improvement project on U.S. Highway 26 on the Warm Springs Reservation near the Kah-Nee-Ta Junction.

The $3.25 million project will improve the slopes along the highway to prevent rocks from falling onto the road surface. The project will also repave this section of highway at a later date. The existing pavement is being ground out and new asphalt put down on the roadway and shoulders.

Signs are being upgraded as necessary. ODOT said the improvements will extend the life of the roadway and make the wearing surface safer for the traveling public.

Where traffic is routed through or around this work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
