Gov. Brown orders flags lowered in Dingell’s honor

KTVZ

Gov. Kate Brown on Friday ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff in honor of former U.S. Rep. John David Dingell, Jr., of Michigan, the longest-serving member of Congress in our United States history.

“Congressman John David Dingell, Jr. dedicated his life to public service and advocacy,” Brown said. “A true statesman, he served in the United States Army and went on to serve 59 years in Congress. Dan and I hold his family in our hearts as we mourn his passing.”

In accordance with the proclamation by the White House, the flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on Saturday, Feb. 9.
