Latino Community Assn. hires development manager
The Latino Community Association has hired Cynthia Steward Jurgensen of Powell Butte as its first development manager. Jurgensen’s mission is to strengthen the financial foundation under the nonprofit that advocates for Latino families throughout Central Oregon.
LCA received a $152,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust last fall to cover three years of fund development.
Jurgensen said she hopes to “help LCA reach new levels of financial security and expanding our donor base by way of advocacy and outreach..
After a career in retail sales and hospitality in the Seattle area, Jurgensen returned to Central Oregon in 1999. She shifted her focus to local organizations and began learning about donor development, fundraising and grant writing, and “all of the many pieces that form a non-profit.”
Since 2002, Jurgensen has worked for the Crook County Foundation, the Shelk Foundation, Bend Area Habitat for Humanity, Family Access Network Foundation, Camp Fire USA (Bend Chapter) and the Crook County School District.
Jurgensen described diversity as “what makes the world spin,” and said she looks forward to meeting LCA’s families, volunteers and donors.
