Local Alert Weather, Tue. AM, 2.12.19
Good Tuesday Morning, Everyone…
The winter storm that has put us under cloudy skies this morning will deliver rain during part of the day that will turn to snow as temperatures drop this evening. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s. Southerly winds will pick up to 10-20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. Any rain will turn to snow tonight as lows drop into the 20’s. Accumulations of an inch or two are possible by morning. Southerly winds at 5-10 mph. Upper elevations south of bend can expect 3-6″ of fresh snow over the next 24 hours, with more expected Wednesday.
While the greatest strength of this system will be felt by the mountains, Central Oregon will see snow buildup of an inch or two every day through the end of the week.
This will be a powerful storm in the mountains. There is a potential for Mt. Bachelor to receive foot of new, wind-driven snow during the next 24 hours and over two feet of snow by the weekend. The mountain passes will also see heavy, wind-driven snow for the next few days. Accumulations of 10-20 inches over the next 24 hours are possible at pass level. Be advised that this will create hazardous driving conditions that will extend into the weekend.
We will see a chance of snow showers through Saturday and Sunday. A break in storm activity will occur Monday.
