Local Alert Weather, Tue. AM, 2.19.19
Good Tuesday Morning, Everyone…
The advance of the next winter storm system will give us a somewhat variable cloud cover through the early part of the day. Those clouds will thicken and deliver a chance of afternoon and evening snow showers. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 30’s and westerly winds will be gentle at 5-10 mph. Snow is likely tonight with accumulations of an inch or two by morning. Lows will be in the 20’s.
The heaviest snowfall will take place through Wednesday and Wednesday night. 2-4″ of fresh snow can be expected by most with the higher elevations to our south receiving 4-6″…that would include communities like La Pine, Gilchrist, Chemult and Crescent. This will also be a big event for the mountains. Mt. Bachelor will receive 9-19″ of fresh snow between today and Thursday morning. Drivers should be aware that this will be a big snow event for the passes, also. Prepare for serious winter driving conditions if you are going over any of the mountain roads this week.
The chance of snow showers will break a bit Thursday night, but a chance of snow showers, heavy at times, will stay with us through the weekend and into Monday. All of this activity will be accompanied by some cold temperatures. Daytime highs will be in the low to mid 30’s from Wednesday forward. Overnight lows will be in the teens to low 20’s during that same time frame.
