Bend man arrested on charges of abusing minor
A 27-year-old Bend man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a minor female during the past two years and soliciting explicit videos and photos of the victim, police said Thursday.
A “concerned citizen” contacted Bend police investigators this month regarding alleged sex abuse that that had been occurring at various locations in Bend, Lt. Jason Maniscalco said.
An investigation revealed that Brandon Patrick Olden, then 25, was abusing a minor victim, Maniscalco said. Evidence also showed he had been soliciting sexually explicit videos and videos from the minor female.
Detectives corroborated the details of the allegation and Olden was taken into custody Wednesday morning and booked into the Deschutes County Jail on several charges. He declined to provide further details about the case, in order to protect the victim.
Olden remained held Thursday evening on $85,000 bail, after arraignment earlier in the day on an eight- charging document.
The charges include using a child in a display of sexual conduct, luring a minor, second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, furnishing alcohol to a minor and four counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
The charging document said the alleged incidents took place between June and August of 2017 and a similar timeframe in 2018, all involving one victim. The 2017 charges involve a female under 18 years of age.
Olden is due back in court next Wednesday for arraignment on an expected formal indictment, after a grand jury reviews the case.
“We would like to hear from anyone who has information related to this crime or other crimes against children,” Maniscalco said.
