Less snow in new week, but still plenty to shovel

KTVZ

A new week in a new month promises far less snow than the record-setting dump on Central Oregon seen a week ago. But while there’s still plenty of shoveling and snow removal to do, we’re not out of the cold, snowy woods just yet.

And while some Bend parents said they are worried about children walking in the road due to unshoveled sidewalks, there were no reports of closures or delays for Monday. The Culver School District said it will have buses on snow routes Monday, but schools will open on time.

The National Weather Service in Pendleton issued a special weather statement Sunday evening for much of the central and eastern part of the state, warning of late-season snow Tuesday night through Thursday night.

Snow levels will rise to 4,500 feet late Wednesday over much of the area, before a cold front lowers snow levels back to the valley floors, with scattered snow showers over central and northeast Oregon.

The John Day-Ochoco Highlands are expected to see 3-7 inches, but Central Oregon is due to get less than 3 inches, with less than an inch to the north.
