Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

KTVZ

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

We’re currently under a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY as the next system pushes up from the south. This round of showers will start as snow and slowly transition to mixed showers by mid morning Wednesday. Snow levels tonight will be around 500′ rising to 3,400′ by the morning. We’ll see about 1-4″ of snow across Central Oregon by the morning. Overnight lows will hover in the upper teens and lower 20s, which is about 5 degrees below normal.

Wednesday will see the wintry mix throughout the day, although showers won’t be as steady and will be more scattered. Highs peak in the mid to upper 30s. Expect roads to be slick and icy during the day Wednesday.

A cold front late Wednesday and early Thursday will leave us with drier conditions. Temperatures overnight will fall back into the teens, so expect icy spots and chunks of ice.

Thursday has the slight chance for showers, but those will stick mainly in the mountains and higher elevations. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s, which will cause the ice and snow to melt, but everything will re-freeze through the overnight into Friday with lows in the teens.

Friday begins our dry pattern as we head into the weekend. We’ll see highs bouncing around the mid to upper 30s, then teens for overnight, so more of the freeze-thaw pattern.
