Grant to aid Crook County substance use disorder program
Lutheran Community Services received $2,000 in grant funds from the Pacific Power Foundation to expand the LCS Substance Use Disorder Program and support Crook County residents in their treatment and recovery.
The LCS Substance Use Disorder team is made of clinicians, case managers and recovery mentors who provide persons with addiction individual and group counseling, peer support and advocacy, Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for opioid abuse and DUII diversion programs. In 2018, LCS provided services to 155 individuals with addictions.
“We are grateful for support from Pacific Power. This funding ensures that rural communities and service agencies like LCS can offer professional and enhanced, substance use services locally. Together with the Pacific Power Foundation’s support we are fostering healthy lifestyles here in Central Oregon.” – Laura Placek, Crook County Community Mental Health Director
The Pacific Power Foundation is part of the PacifiCorp Foundation, one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in the United States. The foundation was created in 1988 by PacifiCorp, an electric utility serving 1.9 million customers in six Western states as Pacific Power (Oregon, Washington and California) and Rocky Mountain Power (Utah, Wyoming and Idaho). The foundation’s mission, through charitable investments, is to support the growth and vitality of the communities served by Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power. In 2018, the Pacific Power Foundation awarded almost $800,000 to local nonprofit organizations.
