Man killed in officer-involved shooting in The Dalles
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in The Dalles say an officer fatally shot a 77-year-old man who was reportedly shooting a rifle at a neighbor’s house.
KOIN-TV reports the man killed in the Saturday incident was identified as James Young.
Police say arriving officers saw Young shooting, and at some point Young was shot and killed.
No one else was injured in the incident on East 10th Street.
Police say the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.
Police say the shooting is under investigation.
A police dispatcher said Sunday afternoon that police were not immediately available to comment.
