(Update: Suspect appears in court; victim under 16)

A 25-year-old Bend man has been arrested on rape, sex abuse and other charges involving a minor victim, police said Friday, adding that they are working to identify at least two more possible young victims.

The Bend police patrol and investigations divisions received information over the past week regarding alleged sex abuse occurring in the city, Lt. Adam Juhnke said, declining to be more specific to protect the victim’s identity and due to the ongoing investigation.

Juhnke said the investigation determined that Keaneu Evert Riley was abusing and having sexual intercourse with a minor victim. Other evidence showed the abuse had been taking place ” over the last few months ” in Bend, the lieutenant said in a news release.

On at least one occasion, Riley allegedly provided the minor with methamphetamine before the abuse occurred, Juhnke said.

After detectives corroborated the details of the allegation, Riley was taken into custody Thursday morning at the Deschutes County Parole and Probation office and later lodged at the county jail.

Riley is charged with two counts each of first- and third-degree rape and first- and third-degree sex abuse, as well as third-degree sodomy and unlawful delivery of methamphetamine to a minor. He remained held without bail Friday on a parole violation charge.

A search warrant also was served at Riley’s southeast Bend apartment, where other evidence was found, Juhnke said.

Police investigators believe ” there could be at least two more minor victims and are actively working on identifying them, ” Juhnke said. He added that more information in the ongoing investigation may be released later.

Riley made an initial court appearance Friday on the district attorney’s initial seven-count charging document, called an information, which said the victim was under 16. He is scheduled to return to court in a week for arraignment on an expected formal indictment.
