Police seize 15k pot plants, 29 guns in S. Oregon raid

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police said Thursday they disrupted a marijuana trafficking operation with an arrest and the seizure of almost 15,000 pot plants, over $550,000 in cash and 29 firearms, including two fully automatic weapons.

Law enforcement officers from more than a half-dozen agencies were involved in the April 11 bust in a rural area of Medford.

OSP said the indoor grow was not licensed. The statement said Gregory Martin Day, 24, of North Carolina was arrested at the site and jailed on drug and weapons-related charges.

Investigators removed and destroyed 14,497 marijuana plants weighing 1,900 pounds. The police said the approximate street value if the pot was processed was estimated at $15 million.

Law enforcement from Illinois and Kansas were also involved in the bust.
