KTVZ

Two Portland police officers were treated for injuries at a hospital and a driver was cited on DUII and other charges after a vehicle crashed into their patrol car and pushed it into them early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday as the officers were responding to an assault.

The two officers were outside their patrol car on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard when a vehicle traveling north struck their patrol car. The impact sent the patrol vehicle into both officers, one of whom suffered a leg injury and another an arm injury. The assault suspect was knocked to the ground but apparently unhurt.

The driver, George Goines Jr., 41, hit the left rear corner of one of two police cars stopped on the right side of the road, both with their overhead lights activated. Police said the impact tore off the police car’s left rear vehicle.

Goines was cited for DUII, reckless driving and fourth-degree assault.
