Small earthquake felt by some on Oregon coast
A 3.6-magnitude earthquake was felt by some Oregon coast residents Sunday morning, and unlike many such quakes, this one wasn’t centered offshore but a bit inland.
The quake was recorded at 9.23 a.m. about 2 1/2 miles east-southeast of the town Rose Lodge, or about 26.5 miles northeast of Newport at a depth of nearly 26 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.
The Oregonian/OregonLive.com reports that minor shaking was reported along the coast from Waldport to Cloverdale, with scattered reports further inland. No damage was reported.
The temblor occurred a day after a 4.2-magnitude offshore earthquake was recorded 124 miles west of Bandon.
