Busy evening for DCSO Search and Rescue
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue had a busy Saturday evening, called out on three incidents that ended successfully amid heavy rain and snow at higher elevations.
One involved a woman above Todd Lake who twisted an ankle, said Lt. Bryan Husband, SAR coordinator. She was able to walk down and meet her group by the road, but it took a friend a longer period to make it out, he said.
Meanwhile, three snowshoers in the South Sister area got caught in a whiteout for a time and lost their way, Husband said. A U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement officer in the area went to the trail junction and found them group, walking them out of the area.
There also was a report of an overdue female ATV rider east of Bend in the Fort Rock OHV area, but she later was located by her group, Husband said.
