Sunriver’s Palcic named to Oregon Liquor Control Commission
Sunriver’s Hugh Palcic has joined the Oregon Liquor Control Commission as commissioner representing Oregon east of the Cascades. He will be actively participating in the monthly commission meetings beginning June 20.
Commissioner Palcic serves as the General Manager of the Sunriver Owners Association, where he has worked for the past 21 years. Palcic has contributed on a number of Central Oregon boards, commissions and committees including serving on the Bethlehem Inn homeless shelter Board of Directors, and as Chairperson of the Deschutes County Planning Commission.
In 2012, Palcic received the Chris Poole Jones ” Unsung Hero ” award from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for his outreach efforts to remediate a brownfield site within Sunriver. Palcic is a graduate of Marist College, N.Y., where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and interned in the New York State Senate.
“Hugh has deep roots in public service within the Central Oregon community and his experience makes him well-suited for the challenges facing this Commission, now and in the future,” says OLCC Chair, Paul Rosenbaum . “We’re very pleased to have Hugh, and are looking forward to working closely with him.”
The Oregon Liquor Control Commission issues licenses for and regulates Oregon’s recreational marijuana and alcohol industries. The OLCC is the third largest revenue-generating state agency, and most of the revenue distributed to the state, counties and cities comes from the sale of distilled spirits. The OLCC also administers the bottle bill.
