Lutheran Community Services event raises nearly $10,000

Lutheran Community Services (LCS) held their first-ever fundraising luncheon, A Life Changing Lunch in Prineville on May 22, at Room 1868. The event, hosted 80 guests and raised nearly $10,000 through sponsorships, individual donations and LCS’s monthly giving program, LCS Lifesaver’s Club.

The funds raised provides increased access to LCS behavioral health services and intellectual/developmental disabilities advocacy for children, youth and families in Crook County.

“Our mission of health, hope and justice is realized because of caring support from our Crook County community members. After this, our first event, it is absolutely clear that together we can do great things. In other news, Travis and Erika Holmes, founders of the Hunter Holmes Memorial Fund presented Lutheran Community Services a $10,000 check on May 29, at the Lutheran Community Services offices. Funds were raised from the foundation’s annual golf tournament, The Hunter Holmes Memorial Golf Tournament, held on May 18, at the Meadows Lake Golf Course in Prineville.

The funds will benefit the LCS Child, Youth and Family Team, the Young Adults in Transition Drop-in Center and will allow LCS to further their collaboration with the Crook County School District to ensure Crook County youth are getting essential behavioral health services.

Founded in May 2018. The Hunter Holmes Memorial Fund is a non-profit, which directs all funds to help finance, educate, counsel, train and support local kids, their families and Central Oregon schools, on suicide and the effects concussions have in youth sports.

To date the fund has raised over $20,000 and has awarded four $1,000 scholarships.

In Crook County, Lutheran Community Services is the contracted Mental Health Provider. As the Community Mental Health Provider, we provide behavioral health and intellectually/developmentally disabled services, to local children, youth, adults and families.

People who struggle with life’s most overwhelming challenges – mental illness, addiction, violence, isolation, injustice and other shattering issues – at LCS are able to find hope, resources and strength to heal and become contributing members of our shared community. In 2018, LCS served over 1,200 Crook County residents.
