Real estate agent pleads not guilty to rape, assault charges

(Update: Adding other charges in 2014 no-contest plea)

A Bend real estate agent pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday to several sexual assault charges and a July 16 trial date was set.

Theodore Holland Settlemier II, 50, who was arrested late last month, pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including first-degree rape and sodomy, Deschutes County Circuit Judge Randy Miller set a four-day trial to begin July 16, with a trial readiness hearing set for July 11.

Court records show that Settlemier has a history of violent and sexual acts against women.

In 2014, Settlemier was charged with attempted murder. He pleaded no contest to fourth-degree assault, strangulation and coercion instead in a case which his then-girlfriend claimed he tried to kill her. Now, Settlemier is making headlines for rape allegations.

On April 15, his most recent ex-girlfriend reported several claims of sexual violence against him to Bend police.

He’s charged with first-degree rape and sodomy, two counts of menacing, two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, two counts of fourth-degree assault witnessed by a minor and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse.

Settlemier remained held late Wednesday on $350,000 bail.
