Redmond Kiwanis dinner raises $17K for Family Access Network
At the Kiwanis Club of Redmond’s annual Vintner’s Dinner on May 18 at Redmond Community Church, the Family Access Network was the grateful beneficiary of the paddle raise fundraiser.
The Vintner’s Dinner is a gourmet extravaganza during which the winemaker explains each of the wines paired with all five courses, and the proceeds benefit youth projects in the community.
Generous attendees donated $17,000 to provide FAN services for disadvantaged local children and families living in poverty.
It only takes $100 to provide a child with FAN services for an entire year, which means that 170 Redmond-area children will be connected to essential needs including nutritious food, safe shelter, and school supplies thanks to this fundraiser.
“We are so grateful for the support of the Redmond community in our work to make a difference in the lives of Redmond area children and families. The generosity of everyone in the room that night was inspiring! We look forward to continuing to partner with the Kiwanis Club of Redmond to support the most vulnerable members of our communities,” said Julie Lyche, FAN’s executive director.
Established in 1966, the Kiwanis Club of Redmond has been supporting the community for decades with the goal of making a difference in the lives of youth and families in Redmond and surrounding communities. Their work includes helping disadvantaged families, supporting child service organizations, and providing positive role models for youth.
Their largest project to date was the construction of Kiwanis Cascade Swim Center, and they also contribute to parks, high school athletics, and college scholarships.
Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in January 1993 and currently employs 24 advocates in 55 public schools (K-12) and early childhood sites to efficiently reach and connect disadvantaged children and families to critical basic-need services such as: food, shelter, clothing, health care, and more.
FAN’s mission is to offer assistance, possibility and hope to Central Oregon families in need by connecting them with crucial resources that will help children flourish in school and in life.
