Portland Thorns new owner; Bend High boys and Mountain View girls basketball lose to 6A schools
BEND, Or. (KTVZ) -- The Portland Thorns have a new owner. RAJ Sports paid $63 million to buy the club, setting a league record. RAJ Sports is also a stakeholder in the NBA's Sacramento Kings.
Merit Paulsen put the team on the market after an investigation into abuse within the Thorns organization and across the league.
The new ownership committed to a lease at Providence Park through 2035 and there are plans for a new training facility in the Portland area.
The Thorns are valued at $65 million, the fourth highest in the league, and are third for revenue at 10.5 million a year.
High School Basketball
Tuesday night had two local high school teams going up against dominant 6A teams. The Mountain View girls kicked off their game at 6 P.M. and faced the #8 South Medford Panthers. The Bend High boys started shortly after and took on the McNary Celtics.
Bend High lost 76-50 and will take on Caldera this Friday at 7:00 P.M.. Mountain View lost 77-26 and will travel to Redmond to take on the Panthers.
