Snow Report: January 8th

With significant new snowfall at many of the area resorts and a series of wintry events headed our way this week we can expect more soon.

A Winter Weather advisory is in place until 4pm today for the East slopes of the Cascades as well as much of our forecast area due to expected snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Also, starting at 4am Tuesday and lasting until 4pm Wednesday there is a Winter storm Warning and a Blizzard Warning above 3000 feet due to possible snow accumulations of 12 to 36 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.  Blizzard conditions mean that sustained wind or frequent gusts to 35 miles an hour or greater; and Considerable falling and/or blowing snow (i.e., reducing visibility frequently to less than a ¼ mile) are expected for a period of 3 hours or longer. Travel could be very difficult to impossible so bring emergency kits with you if you must be in these conditions.
