WASHINGTON (AP) — The House has failed to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the Biden administration’s handling of the U.S.-Mexico border. Tuesday night’s vote marked the culmination of months of examination by House Republicans as they’ve aimed to make immigration and border security a key election issue. But when it came down to the vote, Democrats were united against the charges. Republicans have a razor-thin majority in the House and needed almost every vote. They didn’t get there. This doesn’t necessarily spell the end of the impeachment efforts. The House is likely to revisit the issue, but it’s not clear what the next steps are.
