Bend couple reach a Valentine’s Day milestone worth noting: their 60th anniversary

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A Bend couple, Johnny Mack and Martha Sue Gulley, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Valentine's Day, as did their four daughters and 25 grandchildren, with both a great-grandchild and a great-great grandchild due next month! They lived in La Pine for 32 years.

Here's the message their daughter Donna shared with us:

Dad retired after a diagnosis of  CLL, a type of leukemia. But he is doing amazing.

They are both very active in their families' lives. They are always available for godly counsel and prayer.

We respect both our parents greatly and thank God for them. There is also something tasty to eat or drink.  Mom is always baking something good. Dad was an avid fisherman.  So he has lots of good fish stories!

They live in the same apartment complex with two of their daughters and two of their grandchildren's families here in Bend.

Dad will be 78 in August. Mom will turn 77 in May.

Dad was a certified welder. He worked for Carlson Sign at least 10 years. He welded a lot of large signs here in Bend. Mom worked at Ponderosa Pizza in La Pine for years.

Three of us girls live and work in Bend. The youngest daughter and her family moved to Texas in 2023. They come for visits as often as possible.

The whole family is honored to call them Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa.  We love you both more than words can say!

Happen anniversary!

Love from Donna, Wendy, Lorrie and Marriane

We at NewsChannel 21 also want to wish the couple the happiest of 60th anniversaries!
