Spotty mix tonight, partial clearing and drying Tuesday

The cooler than normal pattern is coming to an end as a milder regime sets in for the short work week.

Tonight will see some light rain and snow mingle once again with the roads maintaining a slushy to icy scenario. The temperatures will be in the low to middle 30s so most roads will be more slushy than icy. The mountain passes will see some patchy black ice, and some of the higher locations or city centers will see some ice.

Tuesday will begin a milder temperature profile as the system off the coast dissipates and we transition to drier and partly sunny days. Highs on Tuesday reach the 50s in the afternoon, but the clear and dry air overnight will allow the mercury to drop to the upper 20s. Freezing fog is a possibility once again, so travel may be impacted for our morning commutes each of the next few days.

Little change in the overall pattern is expected the rest of the week and into the beginning part of the weekend. Highs reach the 50s and lows drop just below freezing.

The next chance for some snow and icy conditions is currently slated for late Sunday and into Monday. This is well off in the future and should be updated and revised as we get closer to the event.
