A quick break from our wintry trend but more snow is on the way

Good Tuesday to you, Central Oregon.  Some snow overnight last night may linger into this morning and there is a chance for some freezing conditions and slippery roads during your commute  especially where roads are wet or snow covered. 

Expect a bit of a break from precipitation today, but this winter weather will persist for the rest of this week, resuming tonight into Wednesday, with majority of snowfall forecast to occur in the mountains.   We may see a few inches on and off over the next few days in the lower elevations as well, but any snow will likely melt rather quickly.  The main challenge with the forecast over the short term will be determining the timing of the precipitation, which will dictate type of precipitation involved.

A winter storm watch is in place along the East Slopes of the Cascades including Sunriver and Lapine as well as areas to the south of our forecast region, Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening. Heavy snow and strong winds possible. Total snow accumulations of up to 5-31" inches possible and winds could gust as high as 60 mph.  Slippery roads and hazardous limited visibility will be likely. 

Winds will be out of the Southwest at 5-15 mph today.  Highs will be in the 30s and 40s and the overnight lows will return to the 20s and 30s.
