Incidents happened Saturday night or early Sunday

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Redmond Police are seeking the public’s help to find whoever apparently used a BB gun or air rifle to shoot the windows of at least 10 vehicles parked on northwest Redmond streets Saturday night or early Sunday.

The vehicles damaged between 7 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday were parked on NW Birch and Cedar avenues between 35th and 31st streets, Lt. Eric Beckwith said. He said the incidents probably happened much sooner, but they began getting calls reporting the windows damaged Sunday morning.

Officers investigating the criminal mischief cases left several door hangers and contact information at homes in the area, requesting any information as well as potential surveillance video from security doorbell systems and the line.

Beckwith said they decided to reach out more broadly because the house-to-house contacts “haven’t had a huge response.” It’s also possible police might hear from more victims with damaged vehicles.

There was no indication the vehicles were targeted as an effort to break in or steal items from them, as no thefts were reported, the lieutenant said.

Residents in the area who have doorbell or other security camera footage or information are asked to contact Redmond Police through Deschutes County non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911, in reference to Case Number 2024-8946.

Beckwith also noted that the recent public alerts via the media and social media have been helping police make arrests.

“It’s becoming very successful when we put these out,” the lieutenant said. “We’re getting tips and solving crimes.”
