Deschutes County commissioners to host fourth, final public hearing on revised 2040 comprehensive plan

Deschutes County

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- On Wednesday evening, May 8, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners will host a fourth public hearing to allow residents an opportunity to provide their feedback on the revised Deschutes 2040 Plan. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Barnes and Sawyer room at the Deschutes Service Building, which is located at 1300 NW Wall St. in Bend.

The Deschutes County 2040 Plan is the County’s map for the future. It provides the goals, policies, and actions that are intended to guide the day-to-day decisions of elected officials and staff. Following a 24-month development process, the Deschutes County Planning Commission recommended approval of the revised plan, which then moved into the hearing phase before the BOCC.

County residents provided their input at three previous hearings last month in Bend, Sunriver, and Sisters. The BOCC decided to add this additional hearing during evening hours to encourage participation from residents who were not able to attend earlier hearings. It will be the final opportunity for residents to provide oral comments on the draft plan before the Board deliberates.

The meeting will include options for community members to provide testimony in person or via Zoom. Written comments can also be submitted via email to Nicole.Mardell@deschutes.org. See the project website for additional information, please visit www.deschutes.org/2040 and click on “Hearings Page.”
