Bend teen’s good deed multiplies; anonymous donor gives $500 to his efforts to help the homeless
(Update: Anonymous donor gives $500 to cause)
Jaxon Middleton wants to 'inspire others to make a difference,' she says
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A proud Bend mom shared the latest good deed Saturday of her 14-year-old son, who for years has prayed nightly for the homeless and used some of his money to buy items for the Bethlehem Inn. And as it happens, that inspired a large donation to his efforts.
Jaxon Middleton also took a box around to neighbors seeking donations for the shelter, Jamie Lou Middleton said in a Facebook post and a note to NewsChannel 21.
“Jaxon has a huge heart and just wants to inspire others to make a difference,” she said of her son, a homeschooled eighth-grader at Oregon Family School, a Bend public charter school.
Also involved was Jaxon's sister Mckinsey, a fourth-grader who Jamie Middleton says also buys donations for the shelter with her own money.
On Saturday, Middleton said, “a sweet lady” who saw what her son doing contributed another $30, meaning “he was able to buy four grocery carts of needed items to donate.”
“You don’t have to be an adult to make a big difference in this world,” she wrote.
Also, Jamie Middleton let us know Monday "a man t(that we don't know) saw the story and was so inspired that he donated $500 to Jaxon to keep up his work! So amazing!"
