Chilly weekend ahead, a few showers over the Cascades Saturday

The forecast is still dominated by the temperatures as the string of 80-degree highs comes to a close with a high of 79 at Bend Municipal Airport. The direction of the wind is from the north today, allowing for a cooler day than Tuesday, but still above normal.

The 80s do return for one day, Thursday as the winds arrive from the west.  This will get the mercury in the thermometer back above 80 for one more day.  Then, a cold front pushes through at the surface along with a cooler pattern higher in the sky, resulting in low 70s Friday and only the middle 60s over the weekend.

The normal high temperature for mid-June is around 75 so the 60s are considered well below the average temperature for this time of year.  There is also a slight chance for some light rain over the Cascades on Saturday and, for a brief period, some snow. Nothing will accumulate as the ground is not frozen, but there may be a few flakes flying from time to time Saturday. 

The sky conditions Saturday for the high desert will be variably cloudy and the winds will be noticeable but not to overpowering. The biggest change this weekend will be the cooler pattern.

Father's Day, Sunday, will continue with the chilly scenario as highs are likely to be in the low 60s or even upper 50s in Southern Deschutes County.  Monday begins a slight warm up with a very low chance of a stray shower in the afternoon east of Highway 97. Bar-b-ques and outdoor plans should not be impacted too greatly.

Tuesday and Wednesday provide us with near normal temperatures as highs reach the middle 70s.
