What qualifications and/or experience do you believe make you the best candidate to fill this position?
I understand the challenges and opportunities faced by working families in Central Oregon, and I am personally invested in the quality of education, safety of our kids, and creating more good paying jobs and thriving businesses in our region. I am a small business owner, an advocate for Indigenous rights, and a parent of three daughters in Bend-LaPine Schools. As a member of the Bend City Council and an experienced attorney, I know what it takes to get things done in government. I bring people together to solve problems – because delivering results is more important than petty political differences. I’m running to bring Central Oregon's common sense and independence to Salem, with a clear vision for a future where politicians do their jobs, collaborate, and make life better for everyone in our community.
What are the top two issues you see facing those in this role, and how do you plan to address them?
1. Protecting Our Rights and Freedoms: Whether that involves ensuring the freedom to make personal choices about abortion, birth control, or IVF, or protecting our community's right to be free from gun violence, safeguarding individual liberties is crucial. This also means respecting the rights of Oregonians to safely and responsibly own firearms. I'll work to find a balanced approach that respects personal freedoms while ensuring community safety. By advocating for policies that uphold these rights, we can create an environment where everyone feels secure in their freedoms and safe in their communities.
2. Building a Better Future for Central Oregon: Our region faces significant challenges that need immediate attention, including housing affordability, job opportunities, child care access, and education quality. I am committed to promoting policies that increase the availability of affordable housing so that people can live and thrive here. Supporting local businesses and creating good-paying jobs is essential for the economic stability of families in our community. Additionally, making childcare more accessible and affordable, as well as ensuring our schools are equipped to set our children up for success, are vital components of my vision for Central Oregon.
