Florence woman dies of ‘medical event’ at Terwilliger Hot Springs
(Update: Woman was from Florence)
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- A Florence woman has died while soaking at Terwilliger Hot Springs, a destination between Eugene and Bend known for its scenic soaking pools in the Cascade Mountains forest.
Sheriff’s deputies said Monday the 25-year-old Florence woman was at the hot springs with two friends “when she experienced a medical event.”
Bystanders began life-saving efforts, taken over by first responders before she was pronounced dead.
The Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined the cause and manner of death. Deputies said the woman’s name would be released after family can make notifications.
No foul play is suspected in the death at the hot springs, also known as Cougar Hot Springs.
A sheriff's office spokeswoman says officials don’t yet know if the hot springs themselves played a role in the woman’s death.
