REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A fire traced to the electrical failure of an extension cord heavily damaged a manufactured home in southwest Redmond Tuesday morning, but the residents escaped safely, officials said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched around 10:40 a.m. to the fire in the 6100 block of Southwest Mesa Way, Fire Marshal/Public information Officer Tom Mooney said.

Responding crews could see a smoke plume as they approached the scene and arrived to find a large volume of smoke and flames coming from a manufactured home as the fire began to spread to a nearby boat and tree, Money said.

Crews quickly extended hoses and began efforts to extinguish the blaze. As more resources arrived, more hose lines were deployed to protect nearby buildings. A search of the home determined all occupants had evacuated safely from the home.

Redmond Fire & Rescue was assisted by Bend Fire & Rescue, the Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District and the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.
