SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Wilsonville man who reached for an unknown object left Cascade Avenue in downtown Sisters and hit two parked vehicles before his SUV flipped onto its side Tuesday afternoon, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies were dispatched around 1 p.m. to the crash on East Cascade Avenue between South Fire and Spruce streets, Lieutenant Chad Davis said.

Deputies found a black 2018 Honda Pilot on its driver’s side in the westbound lane, Davis said.

Medics from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District arrived and evaluated the occupants of the Honda, who got out on their own. The 39-year-old driver and two young passengers were unhurt.

Deputies learned the crash occurred when the Honda’s driver left his travel lane while reaching for an unknown object. He first hit the driver’s-side mirror of a 2018 Subaru Forester parked on the north side of Cascade Avenue, the lieutenant said. He then struck the left rear-corner of a parked 2023 Toyota Camry, which caused the driver’s Honda to roll onto its driver’s side.

The Camry was pushed forward and struck a parked 2023 VW Taos, Davis said.

Cascade Avenue (Highway 20 West) was closed for about an hour due to the crash. There was no word if a citation was issued.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Oregon State Police, ODOT and the Sisters Public Works Department.
