Oregon Highways 126 and 242 closed west of Sisters due to pair of wildfires on the Willamette National Forest

ODOT TripCheck

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) – Two growing wildfires on the Willamette National Forest west of Sisters have now prompted the closures of both state Highways 126 and 242, the McKenzie Pass Highway, ODOT said Tuesday morning.

Due to increasing activity on the nearly 150-acre Boulder Creek Fire burning east of Highway 126, crews closed Highway 126 between mileposts 13 and 19.5, the intersection with Highway 242, also known as the McKenzie Pass Highway.

Meanwhile, a 20-mile stretch of Highway 242 remains closed to all traffic indefinitely between the Highway 126 intersection and the Dee Wright Observatory near McKenzie Pass, between mileposts 55 and 75, near the more than 700-acre Linton Creek Fire, burning near Eileen Lake.

“Use an alternate route,” ODOT advised. “Do not divert onto forest roads to avoid closures.”

These are two of the numerous fires burning on the Willamette National Forest and across the region and state.
