Rain and cool temperatures this week
The cool pattern continues. Highs today will be in the 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Rain will be light and scattered throughout the day today but will mostly occur before noon. Showers should clear in the late afternoon but will return again tomorrow. Lows tonight in the 30s and 40s, with La Pine reaching near freezing.
A low pressure system overhead deepened over the PNW on Sunday and is the main cause for the rain and cool temperatures we’re seeing. As it moves to the northeast today, another low pressure swoops in right behind it, bringing a second wave of rain. Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning will be our best chance at seeing some decent rainfall. Temperatures will remain in the 60s for the first half of the week.
As these systems pass overhead, they’ll kick up the air and bring stronger winds. Gusts this afternoon will be 20-25mph but this morning will also be noticeably breezy.
This cool and wet pattern has helped our air quality clear up as well as help firefighters get a good hold on the new fires in and around Central Oregon. We have a north-northeast wind which will also help to keep the remaining smoke out of our area today. Air quality this morning is good.
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this last weekend. Get ready for some more fall-feel days! Have a great Monday.
