Cool, breezy and cloudy, with some spotty showers to start the week
Not much sunshine today, as spotty rain showers develop. The bulk of the rainy pattern will be in the eastern portion of the state, as rain may be heavy at times over the burn scars. The chance for some debris flows and or mudslides may be possible in the east, but not much trouble in Central Oregon.
The temperatures will be about 8 - 10 degrees below the normal mid-70s Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday, the chance for light rain is still on the table late in the day, which will be ahead of a second system arriving from the west. This will not be a widespread event for our area, just more light rain overnight into Wednesday.
Drying pattern begins mid-morning Wednesday as the skies clear a bit and we get some sunshine. Highs on Wednesday will be in the middle 70s and winds will be light. Enjoy the fall-feel to the region as we are now starting to see some of the leaves changing and the crisp night air be much more prevalent.
Moving forward toward the weekend, it looks quiet and mild with mostly sunny skies Thursday and Friday. Little change in the overall pattern and temperatures both days so if you have the chance to get out and about, enjoy.
Tomorrow will be a Supermoon, meaning the moon will be closest to the earth…and full… at the same time. It will appear larger and will be brighter. Unfortunately, the cloud cover may inhibit our ability to see the “harvest moon” at peak illumination times. The orbit of the moon is elliptical not perfectly round, so there are periods of time when the moon is closer to earth and times when it is farther away. Perigee is when the moon is closest to earth, apogee is when the moon is farthest from earth.
Also, there will be a partial eclipse tomorrow as well; the moon will be full, and passing through the shadow of the earth. Only the top 8% of the moon will be dark around 7:44 pm, and more than likely will be cloudy in Central Oregon.
