Ending summer mild, beginning Autumn warm
Today and tomorrow will be very similar. There is very little change in the overall pattern. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s in the afternoon under sunny skies while overnight lows will be crisp, in the 30s and 40s.
This afternoon will be on the breezy side, similar to yesterday.
We saw smoke yesterday from the Little Lava Fire which put Sunriver’s air quality in the “unhealthy” zone. There’s been clearing overnight, putting Sunriver back into the “good” to “moderate” range. The Little Lava Fire is expected to puff off some more smoke today. North winds will keep the smoke in Southern Deschutes County, decreasing Sunriver and La Pines air quality again.
A ridge of high pressure is currently working its way in. It is building off of our coast and will start to creep in by the end of the weekend. We’ll see temperatures begin to rise into the mid and upper 70s on Sunday. By early next week, many areas will start to tip into the 80s. Next Tuesday will be the warmest day of the long-term forecast.
The first day of Autumn begins on Sunday, September 22nd. We’ll end summer just a degree or two below normal and enter the Fall season a few degrees above normal. Normal high temperature for the 22nd is 74 degrees.
Your weekend forecast looks mild, comfortable, and clear. It will be a great weekend to enjoy those last official summer nights before we start prepping for a long winter.
