ABOUT ABILITREE

Since 1982, Abilitree has been a nonprofit organization committed to empowering individuals with disabilities by serving as a trusted resource and support system in Central Oregon. We have continually adapted to the evolving needs of our community, particularly for those with significant disabilities.

What sets us apart is our approach: Abilitree is run by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities, ensuring that every service we provide is informed by lived experience and the challenges faced by our community.

As part of the nationwide network of Centers for Independent Living (CILs), Abilitree offers personalized services aimed at helping individuals overcome barriers to independence—whether it’s through gaining access to health care, navigating housing, or developing individual action plans that guide them through complex processes.

We also work at the system level, partnering with local governments and organizations to address broader issues such as public health preparedness, emergency response, and disability rights.

Our mission goes beyond providing services; we strive to foster a community where every individual is valued for their abilities and empowered to make their own choices. Through advocacy, education, and empowerment concepts, Abilitree champions dignity, self-determination, and respect for all.

Abilitree is actively seeking to hear from individuals with significant disabilities living in Crook, Jefferson, or Deschutes counties who may be interested in joining a peer-led board of directors.  For inquiries, please contact us at info@abilitree.org or call 541-388-8103.
