Summit boys soccer to defend state title after 3-1 semifinal win; Bend girls soccer’s Cinderella run continues with 2-1 win over rival Caldera

The Summit boys soccer team is headed to their fifth state championship game in the past six seasons. The Storm will go for their third title in four years after a3-1 semifinal win over Woodburn. The Storm will play in the state title game Saturday against La Salle.

The Bend High girls soccer team, meanwhile, is on a run they will never forget. The Lava Bears beat the No. 10-seed in the first round in overtime, in the second round they beat the 2-seed in penalty kicks, and on Thursday, the Lava Bears beat the 3-seeded Caldera Wolfpack 2-1. Now they head to the state title game, where they will play Wilsonville.
