Freezing fog advisory continues with more fog tonight before a clearing for the weekend

The Freezing Fog Advisory has been extended, again, until 11am this morning. Be careful stepping outside and driving on the roads. It will be slick and visibility will be limited to under a quarter mile in some areas. Due to the freezing fog, we are seeing ice formation on trees and surfaces and snowflakes, or rather snow crystals, fall. They aren’t coming from the clouds above, but they are forming within the fog cloud, giving a snow-like appearance.

Lower elevations continue to struggle to heat up under the fog all day. Temps will range from the 30s, in Madras, to the upper 40s, in La Pine. Lows tonight will be cold, in the teens and 20s again. Bundle up!

Most of us will start to see some clearing from the fog today or tomorrow. Areas north of Bend, into Jefferson county may struggle for one more night of fog before clearing for the weekend.

Clouds will start to roll in today and increase on Friday before we see rain Saturday. A cold front moves in Saturday afternoon which will bring a line of showers. If you are planning on going to the Christmas parade in Bend, bring a raincoat or an umbrella to stay dry. A few flurries could drop Sunday morning before we are dry once again.

Happy Thursday and have a great day. Stay safe and warm!
