Off and on rain and snow through the weekend
A series of fronts will cross the region opening the door for plenty of wet weather. The waves of rain and snow will be light with each passing and the temperatures support a mix of mostly rain and some snow during the day, but snow at night. There will be breaks in the pattern with some sunshine, then we will have periods of grey and wet conditions. Currently the snowfall totals are not impressive with each wave, but the cumulative amounts will be impressive, especially on the Cascades.
The first wave of rain and snow will arrive overnight and we will wake up to a light coating of snow and patchy ice early Thursday. Driving to work or school tomorrow morning will be tricky, so allow extra time to get to your destination. Later in the morning most of the light snow will have ended and we should see a few rays of sunshine.
Friday will start out dry but the next wave of rain and snow arrives after the sun sets. This round will have bit milder air with it therefore a rain and snow mix should be present from Bend north and east. From Lava Butte to La Pine should be cold enough for some wet snow. Sisters looks to be the same.
Saturday will bring with it some off and on showers, mostly cold rain. The La Pine, Sunriver and Sisters should see more snow mingled in but with temps near 40 it will be wet snow.
Sunday will be a dry day with a mix of clouds and sunshine and highs in the low 40s. Monday should bring another round of rain and snow that may linger into Tuesday. Prepare for some wet and wintry driving the rest of the week and into the weekend.
