Redmond Fire & Rescue plans ‘live fire’ training on acquired structure Friday
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- On Friday, Dec. 20 at 8 a.m., Redmond Fire & Rescue will be conducting a live fire training on an acquired structure provided by a property owner. The property is located at 732 NW Maple Avenue.
Training evolutions will begin at 8 am and training will conclude by 4:00 pm, Fire Marshal Tom Mooney said. This training burn will generate smoke and flames, which may be visible in the area. There will be no street closures for this burn.
These training evolutions provide invaluable training for firefighters to practice skills such as ventilation, hose evolutions, search and rescue and fire behavior. Practicing these skills keeps our firefighters prepared when a real emergency does happen, Mooney said.
"The exercise will be controlled, and plans are in place for additional resources to be deployed, should the need arise to provide for the safety of our firefighters, our citizens, and neighboring properties," he said.
Weather conditions will be closely monitored to determine if it is safe to conduct the burn.
